New job!

My new job is such a treat... a "chic treat"! This is one of the designs I've been working on that just went live! It's currently the main square on the homepage (, as well as being our latest "Little Bendel Book" newsletter!

It's been a crazy past few weeks! Lots of good things to be thankful for. Had a great time visiting my family and friends back in Miami and Tampa, soaked up as much sunshine as possible and enjoyed many a delicious home cooked meal. Now I'm back in NYC, just started my new amazing job and getting into the Christmas spirit! Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Here are a few designs of mine published in the October and November issues of BORO magazine!

Turkey Day

While I was on vacation for two weeks in Miami and Tampa, I thought it might be fun to devote 5 minutes each night to making a quick sketch or two about that day. The result was a set of little square chunks of my brain quickly processing 24 hours of data. Click to view larger. Enjoy!

Labor Day weekend in Maine

Hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend. I got the chance to go up to Maine and stay in a rustic cottage in the woods! Forgot how many stars there are in the sky. It was very beautiful there and a good mini vacation from the city. Fresh air and lobster rolls... can't go wrong!

Laundry Room - gorilla redesign

The laundry room in the basement of my apartment building had this pretty awful sign declaring the hours and "rules". After signing the lease for another year, I decided I'd had enough of the red chicken scratch (that's what my elementary school teachers always called bad handwriting), with its hastily taped additional paper at the bottom. So I took a few minutes to do a little redesign.

Best friends

My best friend Terry finally made the journey from Kansas City to New York City to visit me this past weekend! And despite the heatwave of the century trying its best to melt us, we had a ton of fun... running through open fire hydrants in the street, Bushwick block parties, unintentional high school reunions, lots of frozen drinks in 90+ degree house parties, an awesome Jim Henson exhibit at the Museum of the Moving Image (who doesn't love kermit?) and of course delicious food including my favorite city bagels and burgers... I miss her so much already and can't wait for another visit!

Cover collage for BORO Magazine!

Had a lot of fun working on the cover concept and the inside layouts. Love how it came out: bright and colorful for sunny weather ahead (hopefully warming up soon!).

Restaurant Guide!

New issue of BORO mag!

I had the pleasure of designing the new icons and layout from scratch for the first ever "Restaurant Guide" edition of BORO, as well as the cover photo illustration (food photography by Bradley Hawks). What fun! I can't wait to try the signature dish at every single one of these local favorites!

New job!

Check out BORO magazine, an awesome magazine about my neighborhood -- Astoria and Long Island City (LIC)! I recently started freelancing design work for them and it's been a great experience. The new issue I helped design hits stands tomorrow. (Out of the NYC area? View online here.)

Some layouts I worked on in this issue:

Season's Greetings!

Holiday card design I hand drew and scanned into the computer for some little Christmas cards I made this past season. Hope you all had a happy new year. Warm wishes from the very cold and snowy Empire State.
